5 different sports

Link up sports continuously, one after the other, without the clock stopping.

Bicycle

From the starting arch, the competitors run the hundred or so meters that separate them from the bikes, parked on Grande-Allée street. They then complete a few laps of the closed road circuit, which is filled with climbs, descents, turns and a long section on snow.

Running

After passing through the transition zone, where the equipment is changed or the relay given from one team member to another, the running course is the easiest part of the Pentathlon, on a perfectly flat snowy circuit in front of the Museum of Fine Arts. You can run at your own pace, and walk if necessary! Lined and cleated running shoes are recommended.

Cross-country sking

The ski portion takes you on a tour of the Plains of Abraham, on a wide, professionally groomed trail with steady but gentle climbs and long, easy descents. Skiers use the classic style or the skating technique, at their convenience.

Skating

Skating takes place on the beautiful 400-meter-long artificial ice ring in front of the museum. Skaters wear field hockey skates, long-bladed speed skates or Nordic blades, which fit under cross-country ski boots, allowing for a faster transition!

Snowshoeing

Inspired by our Nordic roots, the final event takes place on a well-groomed trail that runs alongside the cross-country ski course. Sinew snowshoes are still used by some, but most competitors opt for narrower, lighter snowshoes.
