Winter is back… as for the unique Quebec City Winter Pentathlon.


Recently recognised as the « Best new event in Canada » by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance, the unique Quebec City Winter Pentathlon will take place, in 2009, from February 21st to March 1st 2009 on historical Plains of Abraham in downtown Quebec City.


As in a triathlon, the Winter Pentathlon is a multisport event in which competitors have to complete, without stopping, 5 consecutives events in one of 3 formulas: Solo, relay-tandem or relay-team.

To compete… or just for fun

The event is more than accessible to all level of participants. Multiple events assure everyone to find the challenge that will fulfill their expectations. From the Family and friends Hydro Quebec Winter Pentathlon to the Merrell Short Distance and long distance Winter Pentathlon, in 2008, the event posted “sold-out” with more than 1300 participants, from 5 to 78 years old.

The Quebec City Winter Pentathlon is presented on Plains of Abraham, an historical park, in downtown Quebec City. Again this year, the organising committee will build, especially for the event, a superb skating rink, overlooking the St-Lawrence River and its winter floating ice.

Over 1500 participants are expected in 2009. Will you be there?

On top of the regular program of the Winter Pentathlon, in 2009, we are introducing another event: The Plains of Abraham Skating Challenge. On the week-end of February 21 and 22, 4 different races will take place on the skating oval: 40km, 25km, 10km and 1km.

Ice and snow are back again in 2009, in downtown Quebec, on Plains of Abraham, for this unique winterfest. Register now as places are limited.
