Presented from February 20th to 28th, 2010 the Pentathlon des neiges de Québec offers you the most varied and complete program. Whether you are a competitor, a participant or a spectator the different competitions and animation to the program will be an interest to everyone.

To participate at the Pentathlon des neiges you must complete these 5 disciplines without stopping; cross country skiing, snow shoe, biking, skating and running. The race unfolds like a triathlon, continuous and the transition time is included in the final time.

3 formulas to participate : solo, tandem-relay or team relay.

 

« Solo» :

When you register to the solo event, with no assistance, you must complete, without stopping, all 5 events. Before the race, you must deposit, in the transition area, all the equipment necessary for your race. At the end of each event, you will access your designated space, in the transition area, where you will change your equipment and start the next event. Time in the transition area is counting, so be ready!

2 challenges allow you to participate in solo:

1. Short distance challenge – Presented by Merrell – Saturday February 27, 2010
2. Long distance challenge – Presented by La vie sportive - Sunday February 28, 2010

Register early to take advantage of the best rates and also because places are limited.

 

« Tandem - relay » :

When you register to the Tandem-Relay event, with no assistance, you must complete, in a team of 2 individuals, all 5 events. Before the race, you must deposit, in the transition area, all the equipment necessary for your race. At the end of each event, you will access your designated space, in the transition area, where you will change your equipment and start the next event or you will transfer the electronic chip to your partner, so he can start the next event. Time in the transition area is counting, so be ready! Each member of the team must complete a minimum of 2 events.

2 challenges allow you to participate in tandem-relay:

1. Short distance challenge – Presented by Merrell – Saturday February 27, 2010
2. Long distance challenge – Presented by La vie sportive - Sunday February 28, 2010

« Team - relay » :

When you register to the Team-Relay event, with no assistance, you must complete, in a team of 3 to 5 individuals, all 5 events. Before the race, you must deposit, in the transition area, all the equipment necessary for your race. At the end of each event, you will access your designated space, in the transition area, where you will change your equipment and start the next event or you will transfer the electronic chip to one of your partners, so he can start the next event. Time in the transition area is counting, so be ready! Each member of the team must complete a minimum of 1 event and a maximum of 2 events. In the mixes category, a minimum of 2 events must be completed by a girl.

Multiple challenges allow you to participate in team-relay formula:

ARSEQCA Invitational Primary and Secondary tournament

Défis courte et longue distanceThursday Februrary 25th, 2010 will be the Invitational Primary and Secondary school tournament of ARSEQCA (The Regional Association of Sport Student of Québec Chaudière Appalaches). L’ARSEQCA invites all primary and secondary schools to participate at this relay race in teams of 5 participants, in 8 different categories in order to win one of the banners at stake.

For the teams at the primary level, the total distance to cover is 13.25km and for teams of secondary level and school personnel the total distance to cover is 23.5km.

The Pentathlon des neiges Corporate challenge will be presented Friday Februrary 26th, 2010 with the profits going to « A l’école moi j’bouge » (at school i’m active).

Friends and Familly challenge presented by Hydro Québec

Hydro Québec presents the Friend and Familly pentathlon, an event where everyone wins while participating.

In teams of 5, you will complete continuously (by relay) the 5 stages of the Pentathlon Friends and familly challenge Hydro Québec. To participate your team must have a minimum of 1 participant younger than 12 years old and/or a minimum of 2 participants younger than 15 years old. Who completes which discipline is your choice. Every team member must complete one stage.

Accessible to everyone because every stage lasts approximatly 10-20 minutes. In 2009 the age of the participants ranged from 4-81 years old. Will we establish new records in 2010?

A great way to discover physical activity during winter is by participating at the Pentathlon des neiges friends and familly Hydro Québec. Get dressed up, have fun! After the challenge, come enjoy a generous italien buffet offered by the organisation.

Be quick to sign up to this event with a great rate that barely covers the meal.

Short distance challenge presented by Merrell and Long distance challenge presented by La vie sportive

Défis courte et longue distanceThis year we present the 6th edition of the original and unique Pentathlon des neiges. Amateur and international level athletes will battle for the different titles at stake. A great scene in perspective. A total of 29km for the Merrell short distance on Saturday Februrary 27th and 45km for the long distance on Februrary 28th.

Charles « Chuck » Perreault has already confirmed his presence to defend his title at the start line Februrary 28th, 2010. Will he improve his time of 2 :15 :24? Will Pascal Bussière, 5th in 2008 and 2nd in 2009 continu his climb to the summit?

A total of 1000 participants will participate to these two challenges in 30 different categories, repartee this way :

The Quebec city Winter Pentathlon is based at 4 stars hotel Loews le Concorde and taking place on historical plains of Abraham, on the Battlefield park and the surrounding streets. Here are the details on the different courses for the short and long distance event.

In order to get your participant envelop each team member or tandem MUST compulsorily hand in the waiver form signed by each team or tandem member. You can print a copy of the waiver form (on the link just below) and get your team mates to sing it. Note that others who have signed up to the Pentathlon through another way than the Pentathlon website will also have to hand in the signed waiver form.
